We Keep Passing Milestones!

Things couldn’t be busier for Lazarus Polymers and our partners. With design, fabrication and construction work taking place in three locations (and three countries: England, Wales and Austria!), all to come together for the start of installation work in a little over 2 weeks, there is no shortage of work to go around!

In Austria, our friends at IBS Paper Performance Group (http://www.ibs-ppg.com/) are well underway fabricating our Kneader – the heart of the dry separation process. The Kneader allows us to separate lightweight polymers from dense polymers and non-polymer elements like organics, paper and inert materials (which are further separated downstream).

At over 4.5 metres long and weighing almost 6 tonnes, this is a substantial machine!

Meanwhile, over in Sandycroft, Wales: Our technology partners, Salvtech (www.salvtech.com) are putting together many of the Balance of Plant components and systems. Equipment is arriving almost daily and the Salvtech fabrication team are fully occupied.

We use air in the process – both for separation and conveying. So, we were glad to see the delivery of the fans to Salvtech, ready to be skid-mounted before they are transported to site.

Twin screw housing - good as new!

After sand-blasting and a paint job, our twin-screw

conveyor looks good-as-new. Where feasible, we prefer to refurbish and reuse equipment – it’s better for the environment and better for our shareholders!

in-feed hopper in fabrication

Salvtech are designing and fabricating many of the components in-house. This is part of the in-feed metering device that feeds the system.

the iSeparator

The biggest piece of equipment is Salvtech’s proprietary iSeparator, at over 5 metres long and 4 metres tall. The iSeparator ensures we can recover any remaining light polymers, as well as separate recoverable organics from the dense plastics and large rejects.

Finally, over in the South East of England we managed to pick a beautifully sunny day to capture some drone footage of our processing building under construction. The building is big, but then so are our ambitions!

KELP building 1
KELP building 2

All our hard work to date will come together over the next 3 months as we build and commission our first polymer recovery facility and start transforming a landfilled waste into a Renewed Raw Material!

The KELP process

We’ll be sure to keep you posted with updates in the coming weeks.
